Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid is an international training program that was created in Australia in 2000 and is now available in 24 countries around the world, including the United States and Canada. Upon completing the course, you will become a certified Mental Health First Aider which is valid for three years.
Mental Health First Aid is a training course that gives workers the skills they need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem, or experiencing a crisis, and help connect them to the appropriate care.
This valuable training is offered to entertainment industry workers in the United States through the Behind the Scenes Foundation: btshelp.org/mhfa, and to workers in Canada through the Actors Fund of Canada: https://afchelps.ca/mhfa/
IATSE workers who successfully complete the Mental Health First Aid training through Behind the Scenes in the U.S. or Actors Fund Canada are eligible for Certification Reimbursement through the IATSE Training Trust Fund: https://www.iatsetrainingtrust.org/certification-reimbursement
